Plunked was surprisingly mediocre. I believe that Michael Northrop wrote this book well and I could both comprehend and relate to almost everything in the book, but I believe it could have been much better. I think Michael Northrop could have added in some specific elements that would have increased my opinion of the book twofold. The main character is in 6th grade, so as you can assume the whole aspect of the book is skewed so that it can easily be read by a younger audience. I believe this book was an easy read which was still entertaining because I found the both the plot and the mood of the story very intriguing. Even though this might be quick and easy read, if you have not read it yet, no matter what age, I would still recommend for you to read this book. However, I think it would be better to start with Foul Trouble and/or Million-Dollar Throw. I think that I would give Plunked 4 out of 5 stars.

Unfortunately the quality of Plunked paled in comparison to that of Foul Trouble. While the plot had a nice message, I felt like it was underdeveloped and lacked the detail that was included in Foul Trouble. I believe that part of the reason that I disliked this book was because it was aimed at a slightly younger audience. I found the plot to be somewhat repetitive but a little intriguing all the same. Because Michael Northrop is still a young author and this was one of his first books I believe it does not mar his reputation whatsoever. Even thought it was fairly simple, and easy to read, I still recommend it because it captures the genre realistic fiction very well. I would give Plunked a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.
